Welcome to a new week! I hope you had a wonderful weekend with some time set aside for rest and relaxation! Our weekend wasn’t exactly restful but it was definitely about embracing those that you love!
I was very relieved that the doctors figured out that Blake does indeed have Bell’s Palsy. They continued his treatment and we go back on Friday for another check up. Having a child lose their ability to smile normally was really scary!
This was a big week at the new house as you will see below. I’m so grateful that it’s coming together and hopefully we’ll be in before long. I keep telling myself it’s time to really start packing and to keep tidying our home but we haven’t been home enough to give it a second thought! Hopefully this week some of that will come together!
What do you have happening this week?
Here are my 5 Things I Love from last week:

1. Family!
We had a lot of fun family interaction last week. We celebrated my nephew’s 2nd birthday. It was such a special day as he was born a tiny 2 pound preemie and is now a sweet little 27 pound boy.
We worked at the new house the entire day on Sunday. The boys brought along their “dirt toys” and I loved seeing all 5 kids head out to play. I love being in the country where the kids can get that far from the house and are completely safe while having fun together. (We did have one come back crying of a dirt clod fight though so it was a good reminder that they are kids and they do fight!)
2. Books!
I started reading You’re Made for a God-Sized Dream: Opening the Door to All God Has for You last week! I’ve been going through one day, 5 days a week and I have been enjoying it so far!
One point that I found quite thought provoking is that when you ask a bunch of women what is their God-sized dream, either they don’t want to share because of fear or that they can’t come up with their positive traits and what they’re gifted at to find what that God-sized dream is. I’ve battled this demon myself and it felt reassuring to know that I’m not alone!
I also started reading Matter: How to Find Meaningful Work That’s Right for You and Your Family (The Well-Educated Mom’s Guide Book 1).
I’ve been reading Matter: on the free Kindle app while on the elliptical. I have a hard time keeping my phone charged so when it’s dead I’ve been reading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families. I’ve tried to read this book about 3 times before and I’m now through the first 3 chapters so I’m hoping I can finish it this time.
3. Sportsmanship!
I was so proud of our school’s (and my nephew’s) football teams feature on our local news for their amazing sportsmanship. Very rarely do kids make it to the pros in sports but these are the reasons why you want your kids to play sports: to learn sportsmanship, to stay fit, and to grow as people.
4. A New Floor!
On Sunday we were so lucky to have my mom and stepdad help us install some flooring into one of the bathroom’s in the new house. It turned out awesome! The builder’s installed the trim today and I can’t wait to get one bathroom done! The decorator in me is so excited to put in some towels and actually make this new house a home!
5. Doors & Trim!
One of the hardest parts of designing this house has been trying to put together trim, flooring, and paint that I love that goes together. The trim stain was a big one for me and over the weekend a lot of the trim and doors were hung and I love them (and am so relieved)!
Life is never dull at my house! What did you love last week?
