Do you ever get tired of hearing, “Hey, what’s for dinner?”
I do! 5:15 P.M. to 6:15 P.M. is known as the witching hour at my house.
It never fails that if I don’t have a plan in place for dinner, my darling children soon become something wicked out of a horror movie.
In other words, meal planning saves my sanity (and a lot of money by not visiting the nearest drive thru). Each Monday, I quickly sketch out my plan for the week. Being married to a farmer and having kids in a lot of activities, I need a plan that’s flexible.
I make fairly easy meals during the week and more complicated ones on the weekends when I have more time at home.
We are still harvesting so that also makes my meal planning a little wacky right now. I’m really lucky that most nights Jason’s mom cooks for all of us (God bless her, she is truly a wonderful lady!) and others we eat at home and either take Jason a sandwich or she takes the guys food.
The kids also have no school on Thursday or Friday due to Fall Break so I have a few extra meals that everyone will be home to plan for.
So my tentative meal plan looks like this:
This Week’s Meal Plan:
Breakfast:
Scrambled Eggs & Toast
(Brunch) Yummy Baked French toast
Blueberry Muffins
Oatmeal or Yogurt with Granola
Cereal
Cinnamon Toast or Cereal
