I hate to even admit this but I’m so happy for a new week! This last week was tough on me…there were lots of fun that happened but a lot of stress and some sadness, too. I went to bed last night feeling more tired than I have in months. However, today was a new day and I had some nice sleep last night (thanks to Jason getting up with a coughing 5-year old) and I felt so much better!
Here are a few things that we were up to this week.
Wrestling:
The kids continued wrestling practice. If you need a good laugh, come watch the preschoolers wrestle! They are hilarious. Some are really serious and want to be professionals when they grow up and then there are my two, who should really just be known as the giggle bunch. 🙂
Pinewood Derby:
This week we had the Pinewood Derby for Blake’s cub scout pack. This is our first year in scouts and I honestly had no idea what to expect. Jason and Blake had worked hard on his car (procrastinating until this last week…hey it’s what we do) and they were both pretty excited that Blake finished 3rd.
Of course, now that the kids have seen how this works, next year Nora wants to make a Hello Kitty car, Ari wants a pink glitter princess car and David thinks a Despicable Me car with a minion would be pretty awesome. What have we gotten ourselves into?
Fair Convention:
How lucky are we that my Aunt and Uncle were in town this weekend and not only did we get to see them but the kids got to get their faces painted at the fair convention they were attending. My uncle is so talented. He can carve about anything out of a hunk of tree and a chain saw! Here is Nora holding one of his carvings that she decided did not stand for “Nebraska” it stands for “NORA”! What the kids didn’t know was that not only were they spoiled with candy and lots of fun, they also got balloons and their faces painted by some very talented women. (I just wish I had taken my Canon camera instead of using my phone so they didn’t all have the freaky eyes!) The kids were so excited with the results they wouldn’t let me wash their faces when they went to bed last night!
We have a boy with no front teeth!
We have a boy who won’t have to ask for his 2 front teeth for Christmas next year! A few days ago when Blake’s other front tooth finally decided to come out. He looks like a cute little vampire now. The tooth fairy came, all was good except Nora hasn’t lost either one yet so I bet by the end of the week she will have one out!
Paddington:
The kids were lucky enough to go with my mom and stepdad to the new Paddington movie after Maddie’s basketball game today. (I was lucky enough to have an hour to myself to meal plan and do a little grocery shopping). I read this book to them 2 years ago when the twins were in preschool and they didn’t really remember it until they saw the movie. We had a lively discussion on the way home about the silly Paddington. All of the kids said they were glad they went to the movie!
