Good Morning! Welcome to our 31 Days of Decluttering in December Challenge!
Hanging on to excess costs us in the long run. It costs us in time of dealing with the stuff, the loss of space it takes to house the clutter, purchasing replacement items if you can’t find the items you are looking for, and money if you don’t have the space to store in and you rent a storage unit or use up a garage stall that could house your car (as intended!).
I’m sure that many of you either have put your Christmas tree up or will be very soon! Ours is up but not yet decorated, which leads me to today’s challenge.
Today’s Challenge: Get rid of seasonal items you won’t be using again! As you decorate for the holidays this year, look at the items that are left in the storage boxes and totes. Is there anything in there that you won’t be using again? These could be Christmas lights that you have replaced with LED lights, or maybe you recently purchased a tree that is pre-lit! As you adorn your tree with pretty ornaments, ribbon, and garlands are there ornaments, ribbon, wreaths, old stockings, snowman decorations or outside decorations that are broken, need replaced or are no longer needed?
My suggestions of what to do with the items that you no longer will be using are:
- Throw away the broken and unusable.
- Bless someone with the items that are still in great condition (local women’s shelters, churches, or schools may have some families who would love to have your things!)
- If you need extra Christmas money you could try to sell the nicer items on Facebook, Craigslist, or Ebay. My challenge to you is if it doesn’t sell in 1 week, give it away! That way it is sure to leave the house!
If you want to link up, snap a picture and do so, meeting back at 6 CST! For those of you who don’t blog, leave a comment and let us know what you found to eliminate from your household!

31 Days Of Decluttering In December: The Introduction
Believe it or not I am not really looking forward to pulling out any of the decorations simply due to the fact that I have too much!!!
That’s how I felt with the ornaments! It felt good to have a box that wasn’t full after I took out the ones we’re giving away! You can do it! 🙂
