Sometimes it’s just fun to mix it up on the blog! With my kids being home for summer vacation and slowing down my blogging on the blog, I’ve had a little more time to do things I truly love.
Recently I came across Leigh Kramer’s “What I’m Into” posts and was instantly inspired. I am one of those people who truly enjoy reading about other people’s goals, lives, what they are reading, and any other lists they throw out for me to browse!
After reading Leigh’s list, I knew I had to come up with my own “What I’m Into” list for May. May has truly been a month of transitions for us. Jason started planting our crops (and hopefully finishes tomorrow), the kids are out of school, summer ball has begun, construction on our new home is finally underway and we have celebrated several birthdays, graduations, Mother’s Day and wedding showers. After a month full of change, love, and constantly being on-the-go here is my list!

What I’ve Been Doing:
I have really felt the need to be present during these few summer months the kids are home. On top of that, Nora is only allowed 2 hours of screen time each week which corresponds to her vision therapy, it’s very hard to justify me being on the computer all day blogging, checking Facebook, and email. (Trust me I still do more than I should!) Therefore, I will be cutting back on the blog throughout the summer (I’m planning on posting Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) so I can be the mom my kids need while they’re home and help set the example that there is more to life than what’s going on the screen in front of them.
A few days ago we got to celebrate with this big girl! For a newly-turned 4 year old, Grandma made her not only one but two birthday cakes when we went over to visit! The highlight for her was decorating this one with her sisters and then sharing the leftover vanilla cake with Grandma’s dog, Lilly. (We had cupcakes at our house.)
Nora and I have been working hard on her vision therapy. It is quite the commitment and I know I will always be glad that we did this but it is a lot of work and a lot of time (as most things are that make a difference in our lives). I’ve been so proud of her determination and attitude as we’ve been doing our daily therapy at home and making the long treks to her therapy appointments.
Ball games, ball games, and ball games! This is my life 4 nights a week. Blake decided to let his coach pitch to him last night and got his first hit without the tee so he was a very happy boy!
With Jason being in the fields late at night, we’ve had a lot of meals without Dad the last few weeks. We’ve tried to make it a fun time by having some outdoor picnics, going to restaurants that are either treats for the kids or places they’ve never tried before. It’s been hard on everyone not having Dad home so this has lightened the mood and made things a little more fun!
What I’ve Read & What I’m Reading:
- The Desire Map: A Guide to Creating Goals with Soul Fair warning: there is some profanity in this book…With that set aside, I have really enjoyed the idea of this book that when you set a goal or purpose, you don’t really want that thing but the feeling that it would give you. This book feels a little “New Age” to me which isn’t something that I’d normally choose but I’m curious and looking forward to reading the rest. I’ve gotten some great quotes and ideas with what I’ve read so far!
- The Fringe Hours: Making Time for You If you are a woman who wishes you had more time for the things you love, this book helps you carve out those little blocks of time to do those things! You can read my review here! I highly recommend this book!
- Almost Amish: One Woman’s Quest for a Slower, Simpler, More Sustainable Life I enjoyed this book a lot simply because it appeals to what I’m craving in my life right now, a slower, simpler lifestyle! I was able to find this book at the library and enjoyed the read!
- The 80/20 Principle: The Secret to Achieving More with Less
What I’m listening To:
Podcasts! I’ve recently became hooked on podcasts as a way to learn while “doing” whether it’s laundry, dishes, or driving to appointments. I’ve mainly been listening to Michael Hyatt’s podcasts on blogging and living with purpose and also Kat Lee’s Inspired To Action podcasts. I have really enjoyed them both!
What I’m Excited About:
Our house is starting to look like a house! It’s been so exciting and fulfilling watching it go up little by little every day. Reality has started to set in that I need to be decluttering because the move is going to happen at some point (even though we are several months away).
I love my Erin Condren planner but as I’m working on a new project for Fall, I needed a place that not only had a calendar but also lots of room for planning, goals, and dreams. I ordered this goals planner off of Amazon (I have told you all I’m a planner junkie) just for this one project. I like the size of it and that it’s a 90 day planner (which is about all of summer) it is perfect for my new project.
Things I Love:
Spending time with my family! We had a blast going bowling a few days ago, we’ve been swimming, and it seems like no matter where I take a picture, I always end up with at least 3 kid together.
Lately I’ve become obsessed with simplification, living purposefully, and the Amish. (Well lately it’s been the Amish…I think I’m always obsessed with simplifying and purposeful living!) I’ve been adding books like crazy that I want to read this summer (next week I’ll be listing my Summer 2015 Reading List) and I’ve been on the hunt for several of these books at my local library before purchasing.
Finally, I’m excited about my garden and flowers. It’s been such a cool, wet spring that I’m really enjoying green life! I’m looking forward to fresh, homegrown produce and pretty flowers!
What I’ve Enjoyed In The Blogosphere:
I always share my favorite posts and finds on my Facebook page! Just today I shared a really cool idea using children’s pants hangers to clip and hang your open chip bags in your pantry if you have wire shelves! I also post completely different things on Instagram!
Have you enjoyed what you read here today? Do you have friends or other women you know that could benefit from this resource? If so, please do me a favor! I have included the links below to share with other intentional women! They’ll be glad you did!

Loved getting to know you through your “What I’m Into Post!” I never participate as much as I want to, but I’m always encouraged when I make the time to connect with other bloggers and to learn from them. Something that stuck out to me in your post was that you’re a planner junkie! ME TOOOOO!
I just splurged on the Whitney English day planner and even watched videos of how other users utilize their planners. I even bought rubber bands from Erin Condren to add as a way to keep the book closed. I really like this planner and it has goal making stuff as well. I quickly ran out of room on the due date page, so my husband duplicated the design so I could keep chugging away at goals in a time of transition.
I look forward to checking into your blog again!
