Can you believe another week is complete in January? I have to admit, I’m kind of happy about it. January is always a really long month for me and it’s even worse when it’s really cold. Luckily our weather the last few days have been beautiful! I hope it stays that way for awhile.
As I’m going planning out this week, I thought I’d share with you what we were up to this past week!
Monday:
Arianna’s first day of preschool. She was supposed to start last week but because of a dentist appointment and a day of wind chill temperatures of -20° we kept her home. She had a great first week (she is only going 2 days each week) and both Daddy and I survived the quiet house. What a weird feeling when there aren’t any kids home! It’s eerily quiet…I keep waiting to find someone doing something they shouldn’t be!
That evening Blake started wrestling and little did he know that his little brother and sister had decided to join in on the fun. I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time watching Ari and David try to take each other down and give each other pretend points. Blake had fun. The rest of us had fun watching from the sidelines!
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday:
The kids had their regular activities and we even got in a trip to the library. We had a Boy Scout pack meeting for Blake where the boys did Perler Beads. He really enjoyed making a truck and then his own creation which looked like some type of Minecraft thing. I’ve bought these before when Maddie was younger and I had forgotten how much she liked them. We’ll be buying some of these for our house in the near future.
Friday:
Ari had her first eye appointment. I was happy to get a great report from the eye doctor. I was about her age when I first got glasses so I’ve always been very careful about getting all of my children’s eyes checked at an early age. We also talked about a vision therapy specialist for Nora so I’ll be following up with that this week. We also were fortunate enough to go spend the evening with my Brother’s family which was is always nice!
Saturday:
Nora had Cheer Camp and performed her cheer and dance during the half-time game at school. Maddie had basketball and Jason worked with the cattle. It was a busy day and we came home to the very pungent smell of skunk at our house. We opted to spend the night in a hotel…it was that bad!
Here are a few of the books the kids and I read this week:
The Troublemaker We really enjoyed “The Troublemaker”. This book was in the new section at the library and because Nora loves raccoons the cover instantly caught my attention. I’ve told the kids many bedtime stories about troublesome raccoons so I knew they would like it. They loved it! Blake and Nora took it to their 1st Grade class and their teacher read it out loud to the class on Tuesday. David and Ari also enjoyed it. We read it many times this week and I’m sure it is a book that we will check out again.
GOOD NIGHT, GORILLA (Picture Puffins) “Good Night, Gorilla” was also a favorite of the week. (It must have been mischievous animals week at our house!) This book is a classic. The kids read this one multiple times as well.
Thumpy Feet “Thumpy Feet” was a book we originally checked out from the library but after checking it out 5 times, I ordered it on Amazon for Nora. It’s her favorite book. If you have a cat lover, this book will most likely be a hit (especially if you add funny sounds and actions when reading it). My kids loves the Thumpy Feet’s expressions and the repetition.

Sounds busy! We didn’t do much this week. Just the usual…
