Welcome to Day 3 of 31 Days Of Decluttering In December. You will find everything that you need to catch up in this series right here!
Before we really get into digging into our homes we need to get organized for the holidays. I have always associated the words organizing and decluttering as synonyms. I am one of those people who if I don’t have a clear mind, I can’t focus on anything. It stresses me out, I can’t sleep and knowing that about me, if I don’t get my act together soon, I will procrastinate, be overbooked, and not in the holiday spirit. By doing so now, I can focus on what’s really important embracing the holiday spirit, celebrating the birth of our King and creating memories with family and friends!
If you will be sending Christmas cards this year, this free printable by A Typical English Home is a great way to list out who you will be sending them to, and if you have sent them! The other beauty of this list is once the holiday is over, throw it in with your Christmas items and you will have all of the address and people you sent cards to for next year. That is the beauty of simple organizing! There are also many other great free Christmas printables for you to use there as well!
The next area of organizing (and this one is important) is to have a place to keep track of the gifts you have purchased and also those gifts you still need to buy. A few years ago, someone wrapped a bunch of the kids’ presents and then couldn’t remember which boy had which paper…um yes, that didn’t work so great!
Check out this awesome free printable by IHeart Organizing. There are also some other really wonderful printables there for you to check out as well! Once again, if you use this printable after Christmas, you can put it in with your decorations and next year, you will have a list of people you bought for and then can edit quickly. This little organizing trick can save you some time trying to come up with your list year after year.
Some of you may keep track of this with an app on your phone as well. That’s fine, do what works best for you!
Now that you have the hard part out of the way, the last part of today’s assignment is to make sure you have enough tape, wrapping paper, and supplies so when you are ready to wrap presents you have everything you need. If you do, you are finished! If not, make sure you jot down what you need to pick up next time you head to the store!
I hope these easy tips help clear your mind, just like it has mine. Tomorrow we will really get started with decluttering our stuff! I hope you are as excited as I am to have a decluttered and organized home that is ready for Christmas and fantastic memories!
