Only Love Today

March 8, 2017 by Jenny 10 Comments

Good morning! I am so excited! I got my copy of Rachel Macy Stafford’s Only Love Today this evening.

I have read her first 2 books and they always help me get back to the intentional life I’m trying to live. Her words are beautifully written and most pages jump out and relate to something going on in my life.

I got through a few pages tonight and filled my daily bucket. Here are a few takeaways:

  • How much happier could we all be if we’d just admit we made a mistake when it happens instead of letting conflict brew…especially with our children and spouse when we’ve hurt their feelings?
  • Wouldn’t it be easier to live intentionally if we could simply focus on today?
  • If we take one small step we are one step closer to whatever we’re working towards: a healthier lifestyle, closer relationship, changing or creating a habit or a career goal.

Just a few thoughts to start your Wednesday! I’m very excited to apply some of these thoughts and tips to my life and if you haven’t read Rachel’s books, I highly recommend them! 😊

Happy Wednesday! Thanks for joining in the party!

Sometimes I feel hypocritical writing about marriage because I have one failed marriage under my belt. On the flip side, I've seen what really doesn't work and have experienced the pure joy of what a "good" marriage is all about. I've been married twice (for a combined total of 14 years) . Luckily the second time has worked out much better than the first! So please grant me grace, but I hope my experiences will only help you in your own marriage (or a friend's)! Here are 10 things I wish I'd known before saying, "I do".

Welcome to Women With Intention Wednesdays!

Here is what you will find at Women With Intention Wednesdays:

  • This is a link up party where you come to encourage one another, have fun, and share your best posts to help women live their best life!
  • In other words, any post that you have written about Christian living, homemaking, relationships, healthy living, living a frugal life or that helps another woman can be included in this link up! Please just them family friendly (I reserve the right to remove anything that I feel isn’t appropriate).
  • This link up is beneficial for every woman! Whether you are a blogger or a reader, this is one you won’t want to miss! I’m very excited to offer this link up as a place to not only build new relationships between bloggers but also by providing an awesome resource of information for my readers!

Here are the *NEW* 2017 rules of this link up:

  1. You must link directly to your post (no homepages, please).
  2. Please link up no more than 2 posts each week and please do not link up the same post week after week.
  3. For every link you add, please visit the link before you and one other of your choice. If your links are consecutive visit the blogger before you and your choice for the 2nd link. It’s impossible to build relationships when no one communicates! Please don’t link and run!

  4. By linking up you give me permission to share your posts and photos on this blog and social media. I will from time to time feature you here on the blog or on my social media channels. All features will be linked back to the original source.
  5. You also give me permission to email you a quick reminder that the party is live. You may opt out anytime. I don’t spam my readers with emails.
  6. Answer the community building question below so we all get to know each other! That’s the purpose of being here! 🙂
  7. By being a regular link up participant you are invited to pin to my Pinterest board Women With Intention Wednesdays.  I have ~3,000 followers and this will be great exposure for you.  You will need to follow me on Pinterest, email me at womenwithintention@gmail.com with your Pinterest information (name and email address).  After I have verified you as a regular contributor here in this community I will add you and you may add your content that is appropriate to my readers and followers.  I reserve the right to remove you if I find your content unacceptable without any notice to you.  Please also only pin each of your posts once!

  8. I’d love for you to share this link-up with other bloggers.  This isn’t mandatory but if you like it here, please share with your friends!

Community Building Question:  What is (are) your favorite smell? A few of mine are: Baby Magic baby lotion, rain, freshly cut alfalfa and lilacs (although my allergies hate both of those)!

I love the smell of lilacs and hyacinth. And a quick pointer, if you are allergic, the smell of Flonase is just as amazing.

I agree so much with the first point you said. Admitting my mistakes has been one of the best things I’ve learned in the last couple of years!!

I love the smell of citrus – freshly peeled oranges! And freshly brewed coffee!

Yes! —> “Wouldn’t it be easier to live intentionally if we could simply focus on today?” The year I chose “Now” as my One Word was so influential. I still don’t do it as well as I’d like, but staying present in the moment has been so beneficial in many ways.

A favorite smell: my “aloha orchid” candle. I haven’t even burned it yet because I love just sticking my nose in it unburned and smelling it. ha.

I love the smell of homemade bread baking in the oven. I’m trying to think of a smell that doesn’t revolve around food and I’m coming up empty! 🙂

Thank you, Jenny, for sharing your thoughts on the new book. Your final point (“If we take one small step we are one step closer to whatever we’re working towards”) encouraged me in the best way. I often get overwhelmed by the enormity of what I want to do/ need to do, and I always appreciate the reminder to take things one step and one day at a time.

My current favorite scent is Trader Joe’s Orange Blossom Honey Hand Soap. It reminds me of my babysitter’s house growing up, and it instantly brings me comfort and joy.
