Last week I felt that I was definitely more efficient with my time on getting my goals done. I’m going to have to really work on that again this week! Yesterday I finally got my middle daughter’s room deep cleaned and decluttered (as much as a 6-year old would let me do!) I found 4 totes of things that I need to go through and either sell, donate, or trash the contents. This is one of my biggest jobs of the week, but I’m also helping Jason work cattle (we should start having baby calves sometime in the next week), the kids have a day off from school this week, and we have our regular, busy schedule of fun things to do.
Last Week’s Goals:
Intentional Relationships (Marriage/Parenting/Mentoring/Friendships):
1. Have weekly date night with Jason & write love note
2. Make sight word pancake game and word family game with sticky notes for the twins to work on their reading skills
3. Continue working on reading with the twins at least 2 nights- I didn’t get to work with them hardly at all this week but their oldest sister read to them 3 nights so that’s progress!
4. Spend 20 minutes with the kids after school each day without any form of electronic devices.
Intentional Homemaking:
5. Sell 5 items on Facebook- No but did have a great week selling homeschool items!
6. Get all 4-H items taken care of, run errands, return library items
7. Stay under $75 for groceries for the week and blog about it- Didn’t get it blogged but I did stay under my budget! I had a technical issue with the blog from Friday through last night that took me forever to fix, but luckily got that taken care of!
Intentional Self-Care:
7. Exercise 2 times this week-No, evidently this wasn’t a priority because I didn’t make time for it. I need to focus more on exercise!
8. Go to dentist appointment
9. Cut back on caffeine by drinking 3 glasses of water during the day to see if headaches improve.- Not every day but did make progress! Going to make sticky notes and put them on my bathroom mirror, refrigerator and cupboard with the glasses!
Intentional Blogging:
11. Complete post for commentathon for Blogelina
12. Write 5 new blog posts
13. Work on blog only during time allotted for blogging so I can spend more time with my family- I did really well on this until the tech issues with the blog! Going to keep trying this week!
This Week’s Goals:
Intentional Relationships (Marriage/Parenting/Mentoring/Friendships):
1. Have weekly date night with Jason & write love note
2. Play the sight word pancake game and word family game with sticky notes with the twins
3. Continue working on reading with the twins at least 2 nights. Read Owl at Home: I Can Read Level 2 (I Can Read Book 2) and Owls in the Family aloud.
4. Spend a day doing fun activities with kids. Make 4-H storage boxes & do at home pedicures. My goal is to not worry about the house, but to focus on a fun day with the family!
Intentional Homemaking:
5. List 10 new items on Facebook & sell at least 5 items on Facebook
6. Deep clean both bathrooms. Find 10 items to sell or donate!
7. Stay under budget on groceries for the week.
Intentional Self-Care:
7. Get a hair cut
8. Go to dentist appointment
9. Cut back on caffeine by drinking 3 glasses of water during the day to see if headaches improve. Place sticky notes around the house to remind me!
10. Read Blog at Home Mom: Balancing Blogging and Motherhood
Intentional Blogging:
11. Complete comments for Commentathon
12. Write 5 new blog posts
13. Work on blog only during time allotted for blogging so I can spend more time with my family. I’m really trying to spend less time on the blog and more time with the kids and concentrating on the priorities of life.

Calves! I love watching baby calves run around in the spring.
Cutting back on caffeine is tough–don’t forget that it can take a week or two for the withdrawal headaches to go away. Good luck with it.

Hi there, I had to comment on your goal of spending 20 minutes after school with your children and no electronics on. I did the same thing this afternoon with my son, who is in 5th grade. It wasn’t intentional but it was so nice to chat and hear about his day without any noise or distraction that I was thinking we should make it a regular practice. Then I stumbled here and saw your goal! Good luck with it.

It seems like a silly goal but I’ve realized that it is actually harder to do than it sounds and that is sad! I have enjoyed listening to my kids, getting them started on their homework and snack. My word of the year is “present” and by turning off the electronics I’ve definitely been able to be more present in my kids’ lives! Thanks for stopping by!
