Facebook Is Making Communicating With You Even More Difficult

March 11, 2014 by Jenny 3 Comments

I read an article on Forbes today that cause me to write this short post to all of you.

I find this to be very sad and disappointing. I love connecting with you all via Facebook and find it to be one of my favorite social networking tools both for my personal life and bloggling life.

What I’ve gleaned from this article is that, starting soon, you won’t be seeing ANY of any of your “likes” on your news feed in Facebook. If you want to see updates, you will have to continue to “like”, comment, or physically go to the page you want to look at.

I will continue updating on Facebook but in case you want to connect elsewhere, my posts always are posted to Google + and also to Twitter. You can also follow me on Pinterest.

I appreciate all of my readers and just wanted you to be aware of this situation!

Not any?? I know that they said we can expect organic reach to decline with time, but I didn’t think it was that bad yet. I know a lot of other bloggers are jumping ship, but I’m holding on for now. If it wasn’t for this “reach” drama, FB would have been the perfect site for my blog. People go there to connect with friends and family, and that’s the kind of feel I’m trying to create. I feel pinterest and twitter are too anonymous, and I haven’t done much with G+ yet. But my FB reach is actually REALLY high (compared to what I heard it’s supposed to be….) so my feelings may change in the future. How is your reach? Are you considering jumping ship too?

I’m still holding on as well. I reach more of my friends and family there. My facebook reach is only about 5-25% most of the time. Every once in awhile it will be 30%. Such a bummer, hopefully the backlash will make them reconsider!

I doubt they will reconsider. They have to make money somehow, and it only makes sense to make businesses pay to use FB, even though we are small businesses that can’t afford that. I’m not sure what my average reach is. It ranges from 16-80 percent. Maybe around 30 percent, usually?
