Welcome to Day 4 of 31 Days Of Decluttering In December. You will find everything that you need to catch up in this series right here!
Today is an important day. It’s time to go through our clutter and get rid of the hot spots (or at least one hot spot)! For those of you are wondering what I am talking about, hot spots are the areas where clutter accumulates the fastest!
For some of you this area might be your kitchen table. I’m sure many of my farm wife friends can relate to our husbands turning the kitchen table into a makeshift office during harvest, calving season or whatever time of year your farmer is the busiest. For those of you without a farmer, this could simply be your desk!
For parents of small kids in school, the hot spot could be the entryway where your kids drop off their shoes and backpacks. Each of us has our own area that collects clutter and today we are eliminating those hot spots!
In my house there are several (including those above) but also our toy area is a hot spot. The kids have big totes to put their toys back in but most of the time leave them in a pile for someone else to clean up. Maybe you have a toy hot spot at your house!
Today’s assignment is to take 15-30 minutes decluttering your hot spots. Go through the clutter and decide if it’s something that you can throw away, if it needs a new home or if it’s time to give it someone else. Think carefully about why this spot continues to collect the clutter and what you can do to fix the problem.
Could a shelf with hooks hang up those backpacks that are all over the floor? Do you need a filing system for the paperwork? Do you need to set up a recycling bin so when you walk in the door the junk mail can go straight into it? We all need to make a change if we want the hot spot to disappear permanently.
What area of your house is your “hot spot”? What changes can you make to keep it from becoming cluttered again?
Have you enjoyed what you read here today? Do you have friends or other women you know that could benefit from this resource? If so, please do me a favor! I have included the links below to share with other intentional women! They’ll be glad you did!
