Welcome to Day 6 of 31 Days Of Decluttering In December. You will find everything that you need to catch up in this series right here!
The first impression people get when they are invited into our homes is our entryway. This impression can be that you are organized, messy, or crafty.
When you come to my house, you enter into our front porch which is typically cluttered with shoes, coats, mittens, backpacks, and toys. With limited storage and multiple pairs of shoes for each member of our family, the entryway can go from neat to mess as soon as the kids get home from school.
Right now, our porch is a disaster and I’d be really embarrassed if any of you came to our home. It is not the impression that I’d want to give out about myself or my family.
Today’s challenge is decluttering your entryway. This challenge is meant to be done in under 30 minutes.
Today I will be focusing on the numerous pairs of shoes, toys, vacuuming up spilled cat food, picking up gloves, hats, and stray cold weather items, and if time permits, cleaning out our storage closet.
As you are decluttering your entryway:
- do you have any light bulbs that need replaced?
- do you have items that are broken and need thrown away?
- are your winter items (hats, gloves, scarves) where you can find them when you need them?
- do you have shoes that are too small, have been replaced, or are worn out that you can give away or throw away?
- do you have holiday items that need put away (I found a Halloween sign that I put away with the other seasonal items).
- do you need to find a different way to organize your items that could help you keep your area more clean?
Do you have a hard time keeping your entryway clean and decluttered? What are your best tips?
