Welcome back to my 31 Days of Decluttering In December! If you have missed any days in this series, no problem! You can find each day here!
Christmas is 8 days away! Can you believe it? It’s going to come and go before we know it! Today we will be organizing and decluttering the dining room for 30 minutes.
Many homes have a dining room but a dining room can serve different functions. Some use it for formal dining (like my mom), others use it for occasional dining and more for other activities like homework, folding laundry, or crafts. Others never dine in it and have transformed the room into a different purpose. If you are hosting a holiday party you may need yours nice and tidy.
What is the purpose of your dining room? We use ours to eat in every day. We also use the table for homework, paperwork, folding laundry, playing games, and for tea parties! Our Christmas tree is in our dining room because it’s the only place it would fit!
I want you to adapt this challenge to fit your needs!
Here are a few organizing and decluttering tips:
*Go through all of your dishes, table cloths, candles, silverware, etcetera that are stored in your dining room. Anything broken goes in the trash. Extra sets can be donated or sold. Keep the best, toss the rest. Keep what you love!
*Group sets together
*Do you have a bunch of half used candles? Stained linens?
*Do you love your decorations? Are there too many?
*Can you rearrange the furniture to make the room more functional?
*Would a fresh bouquet of cheap wildflowers cheer up your room and soul?
*Remember to mark down if you nerd lightbulbs, etc.
I’d love to know, what purpose does your dining room serve?

We are like you Jenny, it serves many purposes! Reading together, dining together, homeschooling, you name it 🙂 Thanks for sharing your decluttering tips. I just did a overhaul a while back and it sure felt good!
Thank you for sharing this week on the Art of Home-Making Mondays too 🙂
