Sometimes life is too busy to really sit down and be thankful for the blessings you’ve received. This past week has been “one of those” with too much to do, not enough time (or energy) to get it done, but yet, it was a great week!
Last night as I was laying in bed, I kept thinking about all that happened last week and how grateful I was for our blessings.
Despite a really great week, I was exhausted. I have 6 loads of clean laundry to fold on the floor in my bedroom (keeping it real here). The kids had a 4 day school week so we ended up having an extended weekend (and they are off until Wednesday). This has led to some fun experiences and needed family time but it also leads to extra cooking, dirty dishes, toys all over, and of course, disagreements between siblings.
In spite of that, everyone is healthy. The weather was absolutely beautiful (I was even able to wear capris 2 days ago!) We have played games, had time to do hair, play outside, and enjoy life. Isn’t that what it’s about?
So after all of that, here are 5 things I love this week:
-
A clean sink, complete with discounted roses from Valentine’s Day.
After what seems to be about 5 million dirty dishes over the weekend, I finally have a clean sink (and empty dishwasher)! Sometimes it’s easier to look at all those dishes I have to do instead of the blessings my family received from a yummy, home-cooked meal that we shared together.
I also found these beautiful flowers at the grocery store on clearance after Valentine’s Day for $8. The frugal part of me says it’s wasteful but my inner self-care knows that they make me happy. It’s easier for me to stay cheerful by the sink when I have something pretty to look at and I love fresh flowers!

Baby calves!
Even though we only have 3 so far, one of my favorite things to do on the farm is to check cows to see if we have any new babies! The kids love to go with me and Nora has been obsessed with naming each and every one of them food names. Doughnut the Cow’s baby is Doughnut Hole and we also have a Black Licorice. The rest of the kids have vetoed any more food names for the rest of this calving season. (We’ll see who prevails!)
-
A sleepy girl with Grandpa (so sleepy she drooled on his shirt).
These two have a special relationship where they literally tease each other all the time. With all the teasing, snuggles are extra special! We’re very lucky to have parents who invest so much into our children.

My bullet journal!
I love this so much that I will be having a LOT of posts in the upcoming weeks about how it’s helping me stay organized, simplify my life, and get more done! I started writing a post about it for Friday last week and am still working on it! For those of you who are curious about what a bullet journal is look here!

The kids’ new basketball hoop!
My dad got the kids a new hoop for Christmas and it’s finally warm enough to get it up. I’m very grateful that Maddie was willing to put it down so the little kids could play and that she lots of patience to help them! As you can tell, this 40° weather isn’t exactly a heat wave but it’s nice to burn some energy outside!
These are my 5 things I love this week. What are you loving this week?
