We are half way through 2014! As I’ve gotten to be more intentional in my goal setting, I have been more intentional about revisiting my goals to see how I’m doing on accomplishing them.
Each month I revisit my goals list for the year that I set in January and evaluate how I’ve done on those goals. I ask myself if they are still important to me, or if I should scratch them and possibly add something else. I have found that this process encourages me by letting go of things that didn’t happen, can’t happen, or were out of my control. It also gives me new energy to work on the goals that are more important or have become a priority since the beginning of the year.
In January, I also announced that my One Word this year was to be present and made that a major part of my goal setting process.
Here are my original 2014 goals:
Intentional, Present Marriage Goals:
Continue Weekly Date NightsGo On Our Yearly Vacation Without Kids- Have An Overnight Weekend Without Kids
- Read 2 Marriage Books
Intentional, Present Parenting:
Read 4 Chapter Books Aloud To KidsParticipate in Moms & Tweens & Continue To Lead With Brenda Through May (We Will Evaluate Then What To Do In The Fall)- Teach The Twins To Tie Their Shoes. Still working on this. They’re totally frustrated so we took some time off and will try again in July.
- Complete 4 Service Projects As A Family- We’re a little behind on this. We’ve completed 1 so far but I know we can do the other 3 this year. I need to mark them on the calendar!
- Write 6 Letters To Our Compassion International Child. We’ve sent 3 so far.
Intentional, Present Self-Care:
- Exercise 3 Times Each Week For At Least 20 Minutes. This was a feel-like-I-have-to goal. I got burned out. I’m better with setting a week by week goal with exercise and give myself rest when I want and need it. I’ve become more interested in what I’m putting in my body than how to get rid of it so I’ll be revising this goal!
- Read 24 Books (I Read More Last Year, But Have Far More Commitments This Year). I’m glad I gave myself some slack from last year! It’s definitely been more of a challenge finding time but I have read some great books this year!
- Read Through The Old Testament. I’m embarrassed about struggling on this goal but I am. This is one I need to be more intentional about!
- Complete Beth Moore’s Living Beyond Yourself: Exploring the Fruit of the Spirit
by May. I didn’t finish this as I wrote about here. Hopefully sometime in the near future.
- Complete Another Study In The Fall (To Be Determined Later!)
Intentional, Present Homemaking:
Sell 50 Items Online- Create & Use Home Management Notebook. Working on it slowly.
- Have Family Photos Taken Professionally. Scheduled appointment yesterday!
Intentional, Present Blogging:
- Write 200+ Blog Posts. I have written 226 posts so far this year!
- Write 36 Recipe &/ DIY Projects. I’ve written 16 so far this year.
- Read Manual On New Camera To Leant How To Take Better Photos For The Blog- Nope
- Research Photography Classes In The Area & Take One If The Schedule Will Fit For Our Family. Couldn’t find one to fit my schedule
- Earn Enough Money From The Blog To Make It Pay It’s Domain, Hosting, Advertising, & Our Internet Charges- Not even close. I never designed this blog to make astronomical amounts of money but I was hoping it would pay for itself. That’s ok but I’m going to have to do a little reevaluating since we keep going over our Verizon usage.

Thank you to those of you who’ve clicked an affiliate link and purchased something to earn the blog a small commission. Remember when you do that it doesn’t add any additional cost to you (and I do really appreciate it!)
Have you thought about your goals for the rest of the year? Grab a pen and pencil and jot some down, I know you can do it!
