Wishful Wednesday is the day of the week where I take an intentional step to cross something off my “I wish that was done…” list. The goal and intention of Wishful Wednesday is to be able to mark that wish off the list and give you a self-esteem boost that even on a day when maybe it hasn’t been your most productive, you still accomplished something you have been wanting to get done. This wish needs to be accomplished today!
I have noticed lately that I have gotten lazy with couponing, shopping sales, and making my own cleaners. Today’s Wishful Wednesday project is to go through my last 2 months of bank statements and figure out exactly how much money we have spent on groceries and other household expenses (laundry detergent, cleaning supplies etc).
After I know what we have spent (and probably getting sick about it), I am going to rework my budget, create a grocery envelope and get ready to buckle down with the new budget. I need to go through the ads and plan my menu for the next two weeks and prepare my list. After that I will search online for coupons to print to go along with my list and put all of this together in my new grocery envelope.
I am being intentional about this because we are on a mission right now to be saving as much money as possible for a future purchase and this is a really easy area for me to be able to trim and save some money (especially when we’ve been being overly frivolous).
In addition to this I am going to pull out my recipes for homemade cleaners and see what needs to go on my list to make my own (it’s SO much cheaper and also more green). I’m estimating that this whole process will take less than an hour.
What are your best tips on saving money on groceries? Do you have any favorite cleaning recipes?
What is one wish you can remove off your own “I wish that was done…” list. It doesn’t have to be a big task, but I guarantee if you choose something and are able to mark it off your wishful list, you will have a great feeling of accomplishment!
