Do you struggle with procrastination? Do you struggle with having to have the perfect home? Does laundry, the dishes, vacuuming and taking a shower need to happen before you can relax? Do you like to wait for the “right moment” before start projects, sit down and play with your kids, or get together with who make you happy?
I’m going to let you in on a little secret that I’ve learned. Laundry, dishes, and vacuuming are ALL overrated when it comes to spending time with those you love. I also realize that if you don’t do those things, you will have a mess and that’s not good either. The answer is balance!
Can you set the timer for 10 minutes to finish what you are doing and when it goes off, QUIT! Do you need to make a will and have put it off? Do yourself a favor! Grab your calendar, take 3 minutes, call your lawyer and make an appointment. Have you been working on a sewing project that hasn’t been touched in weeks? Schedule in 30 minutes today to work on it. Find at least 3 other days in the coming week and work on your project then as well!
Be intentional with your time. It is precious and no one gets more than anyone else.
Here are a few of the moments that I have been able to enjoy recently because I decided not to wait for the right moment:
- We went to the Secret Keeper Girl Crazy Hair Tour today. We had a group of 9 girls and 6 moms! Not only was it great to see the friends bond at a Christian event, it was also awesome to see them laugh with their moms and have a night to be together!
- Family Photos. There is no “right moment” for us to ever take family photos. It seems like every time we schedule them, it is stressful, and there is usually something else going on that Jason needs to be doing. However, if I would wait until the right moment, we wouldn’t have any! We had family photos done 3 weeks ago,. Yes, it was a job getting ready for but I am so thankful for the pictures we will soon be receiving of our family!
- Refinishing my little table. I’m so thrilled with how that turned out. I’m hoping to start on another project this afternoon!

Great advice! Sometimes, I need to be more intentional with my time. This week, I’m going to call the car dealership. I’ve been putting it off for weeks. Thanks for the great reminder!
