2 weeks ago, I told you I was going to give you a look into how to set goals to get results by how I map out my goals. I’m excited that today is the day you get a glimpse. (I tend to have terrible handwriting when I’m in a hurry mapping out goals so I cheated and created this on PicMonkey. So this isn’t *exactly* how I do this process but it’s as close as possible!)
When mapping out goals, the first thing I do is list out my priorities and brain dump goals into each group of priorities. My priorities for this particular goal mapping session included marriage, family, spiritual, this blog, my new business, my Rodan + Fields business, and home management. To get my entire process, you can check out my post here.
After I listed out each priority and brain dumped some goals (this list isn’t complete but I wanted it to fit on one page), I went back through and I gave each goal a date to figure out how to prioritize each goal. Not all goals are created equal! By doing this I can work on those that need done first and then add in the others that occur later. For example, my marriage goal of having an overnight without the kids can happen anytime in 2017. It’s not a priority for January. I will look at that again later on this year. We will hopefully be going skiing next December so I will start planning for that in October and made a note in my planner.
I then narrowed in on my home management goal of streamlining my routines and systems and brain dumped how I think I can do that in 2017. This is a very rough brain dump because my youngest child is switching from morning preschool to afternoon preschool on Wednesday which is honestly going to really mess up my regular routine! So by trying to get a rough draft routine figured out I can adjust as we adjust to this new change.
I have penciled these down into my planner so I can adjust as we adjust. I hope this has been a helpful visual into how I process mapping out goals and can help you map out yours as well. Be sure to leave questions or comments below if you have any!
Happy Wednesday! Thanks for joining in the party!

Community building question: Finish this statement- By the end of 2017 I want to be most proud of ___________________ !
I am want to be most proud of the spiritual growth I’ve seen in our family. 🙂
Michele Morin says
Solid family relationships.
I’m constantly aware of the fact that now that my kids are older, they don’t really “need” me for much, but my prayer is that they will always “want” to be together whenever we are able.
Jenny says
Everyone’s goals should be that! The world would be a much happier place.

Happy New Year Jen.
Blessings to you
Jenny says
Love these! Blessings to you as well!
Heather says
I want to be most proud of stepping out of my comfort zone and being able to share the gospel with others. It will be a huge shift for me. I’m very reserved and quiet by nature.

Thank you for this post. I love the method you use. I plan to do something very similar this week to get some direction for the year. By the end of 2017 I want to be most proud of completing my bachelors degree and starting a book! More importantly I want to be proud of the time I spend with my grandchildren pouring into them.
Sharita says
By the end of 2017, I want to see God (continue) to work in my life through my God-sized dreams, live out my OneWord of Peace and seek true joy as I linger with our new baby (coming Feb 2017) in this wacky Milspouse life.
A Narrow-Minded Woman says
I want to be proud of blog growth and exposure.
Jenny says
I’m sure you will be! 🙂 Blessings this year!

Business growth.

Me too! 🙂
Lisa notes says
By the end of 2017 I want to be most proud of how I listened to other people’s stories. “Story” is my OneWord for 2017, so I want to be attentive to how God is at work in other people’s lives and how he is at work in my own.
Jenny says
This is awesome, Lisa! This is an area I need to work on more than I’d like to admit. 🙂
June says
Wow, Jenny, I’m really impressed. I confess, although I’m an organized person, I don’t map out my goals. If I was running a family and several businesses like you that might change, though! Best wishes for a successful 2017!
Jenny says
Trust me, it’s essential lol. Otherwise I can’t focus 🙂
Sue says
I love this time of year when we reassess our life and our goals. Your plan is so thorough. Thanks for the opportunity to link up with Women with Intention Wednesday.
Jenny says
Happy to have you here!
Elizabeth says
This is such a great question – such a constructive way to do a resolution. I really want to be more faithful in prayer and correspondence… I know I will fall short 🙂 So this year I want to be ‘proud’ of keeping going, even when I fall short of perfect.
Jenny says
Excellent! Perseverance!
