Welcome back to my 31 Days of Decluttering In December! If you have missed any days in this series, no problem! You can find each day here!
Today we’re making a list & checking it twice! We’re 3 days from Christmas and we need to make sure we are ready!
Before we get to that, I want all of us to be ready to concentrate on the task before us so we’ll start this assignment with catching up on any dirty dishes you have! Unload the dishwasher, load it back up and let it get to work! If you don’t have a dishwasher, it’s time to wash those dirty dishes and get them out of sight and mind.
After the dishes are done, start one load of laundry. We all need clean clothes! If you set the timer, you can have all of your laundry caught up today! Wouldn’t that be a great feeling?
Now we can start on the task at hand, making a list and checking it twice! Yes I know it’s a little cliché! I don’t want you to forget anyone on your list! Turn on some great Christmas tunes before pulling out your gift list! Double check to see that you have everyone accounted for. If not, grab your phone or a piece of paper and jot down exactly who you still need to shop for. We’ll be shopping tomorrow, unless you already have it planned out today!
Next on the list, do you have a bunch of gifts that need wrapped? If so, set your timer for 15-30 minutes and wrap away!
After the wrapping, check your grocery list. Do you need to pick up anything special to complete the recipes you’ll be making in the next few days? I’m taking my Baked French Toast to Jason’s family on Christmas morning and I know I need to buy a loaf of French Bread. Add that to your list of gifts. That way you can pick everything up in one trip.
Finally, before the unwrapping begins, do you have anything that you’ve borrowed whether it’s something from a friend or library items that need returned? If you do, add that to your list and place the items inside your vehicle. There’s nothing worse than losing a library DVD after the kids unwrap a bunch of new toys…not that I’d know or anything…ahem! 🙂
One last tip so I don’t forget, I always give out my kids’ school pictures to the family at Christmas. If you need to do that, find the pictures and add that to your list as well. It saves me from having to do it later and the family always appreciates updated photos!
After completing all of these tasks you should feel organized for the holidays. If not, what is making you uneasy? Hopefully it’s something you can put on your list and be ready to go!
That’s it for today! I hope you have a wonderful day preparing your heart and mind for the reason we should celebrate everyday, the birth of our Savior!
Don’t forget, in case you have missed any days in this series, here they are! (Don’t worry you can jump in right where we are in the series and go back later if you want to catch up or just finish out what we’re working on with us! I’m so happy that you are joining us in organizing and decluttering your home!)
