Over the years I have read a lot of books on saving money and living within your means. Here are my favorites that I have came across over the years. If you find any that look interesting, I highly recommend checking your local library because almost all of these I first borrowed from my local library. The ones that were really helpful I purchased and still use as a reference!
When I first started getting my act together with finances, two books got me motivated. These were Jonni McCoy’s Miserly Moms: Living Well on Less in a Tough Ecomony (although I had the older version) and Amy Dacyczyn’s The Complete Tightwad Gazette. Both of these were monumental in getting me to think outside the box and starting to save money on groceries, making food at home, and reusing things. Dacyczyn’s The Complete Tightwad Gazette is definitely more “outside” the box than some of the other financial books I’ve read but there were many great tips inside.

The next financial books were all great reads as well. Mary Hunt, David Bach, and Dave Ramsey each had really useful information on getting on the right money track. They all have different methods and you will have to choose which works best for you. I have tried them all! Each has it’s pros and cons but all were worthy reads (and you can probably find all of them in your local library)!
The Cheapskate Monthly Money Makeover by Mary Hunt was one of the next books I read and she had many great tips for saving as well. I have read 2 of Mary’s other books as well and they were also very useful!

Dave Ramsey has written several that have made the list. Dave has a simple, common sense method of saving money starting with the Baby Emergency Fund, budgeting, and paying off debt. I highly recommend these books if you need a simple way to get started on saving money.
The Total Money Makeover: Classic Edition: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness
Smart Money Smart Kids: Raising the Next Generation to Win with Money
The Total Money Makeover Workbook: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness
The Automatic Millionaire: A Powerful One-Step Plan to Live and Finish Rich
I actually listened to The Millionaire Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of America’s Wealthy when I was commuting back and forth to work. If you thought that many of America’s wealthy drive fancy cars, live in huge homes, and spend large amounts of money all the time, you might want to read this book.
Also, just a note that if you have a long commute to work or spend large amounts of time in the car, I’d definitely try some audio books.

This is my last book to make the list and probably the one I’ve read the most recently. It is similar to Jonni McCoy’s book and gives you lots of ideas on how to save money.
America’s Cheapest Family Gets You Right on the Money: Your Guide to Living Better, Spending Less, and Cashing in on Your Dreams
What financial books are your favorite? Have you read any of these?
