This is Day 12 of a 31 day series on Biblical kindness. You can find the rest of the posts here!
“Every minute of every day you are making the world, just as you are making yourself, and you might as well do it with generosity and kindness, and style.” Rebecca Solnit
Have you ever thought about what it takes to be saved? It’s not going to church, it’s not by doing kind things for others, it’s not by being a person who engages in 45 minutes of daily quiet time, donating money to the church or other charities, it’s not by reading the Bible every day or being in 15 different Bible studies.
Salvation is given as a gift of grace from God. How amazing is that?!
You can print Ephesians 2:8-10 here!
God had a plan for us, long before you and I were born. God created us to advance his kingdom. One way we can do that is by showing kindness to others, just as Jesus did.
Here are just a few verses of the good works God has prepared for us in advance for us to do while glorifying him:
- Be kind. “Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32
- Give to others. “But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.” Luke 6:35
- Be compassionate and model patience. So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;” Colossians 3:12
- Be hospitable. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it. Hebrews 13:2
Here are just a few ways you can glorify God while doing the works he has prepared for us.
*Volunteer your time being a Big Brother or Big Sister to underprivileged youth. Open your heart and show them Christ dwelling within you.
*At Christmas, add Bible story books to your donations for Toys For Tots.
*Donate pajamas to foster children.
*Invite others into your home to share a meal.
*Take extra gloves, hats, scarves and other seasonal items to homeless shelters.
*Make an extra lunch and give it away to a homeless person.
*Bring a bag of dog or cat food to your local pet shelter.
*Be a Sunday school teacher, AWANA leader, or youth group leader in your church.
How do you help advance God’s Kingdom?
