Do you need some encouragement and inspiration? There’s no better place to go than right to The Word. Whether you are dealing with relationship issues, sadness, anger, or disappointment, there is always a place to go to help encourage you!
Here are 5 of my favorite verses for when I need some hope and encouragement. These verses seem to apply no matter what the situation is I’m facing. (These verses are all from the NIV translation.)
Psalm 37:4
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Matthew 11:28
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
I highly encourage you when you are feeling down to pull out your own favorite verses. I love having a prayer journal so I can find them quickly when I need them. You can also write down a favorite and leave it in your wallet or purse for when you are not home and need to get in touch with God. Take heart, God knows what you are going through.
What is your favorite encouraging verse?

One verse I clung to as a teen was Psalm 27:13-14 “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” I was going through a lot at the time, including some pretty scary medical problems and depression caused by medications. I clung to this verse.
