Since Saturday we have had about 6″ of rain. (Which was a huge blessing since we were entering a drought.)
When it hasn’t been raining, the weather has been overcast, cool, and depressing! I’ve realized that 5 days without sunshine wears on me. I’ve been extra tired and I’ve struggled getting motivated to do the household tasks that needed done. I’ve had a bad attitude. I’ve been snippy with the kids.
Have you ever found yourself feeling that way?
Of course you have! We have good days and bad days. How do you get over a bad attitude?
I’m not a natural gloomy person. I’m always excited for a new day and try to find the good in everything. So the gloomy, lethargic attitude had to go! Here’s how I did it!
Here are 4 Ways To Get Over A Bad Attitude:
-
Reconnect with a friend.
I was very excited to email one of my friends and get her insight on a project I’m working on. We have so much in common but live a few hours apart so this really helped motivate me! I’ve been relentlessly working on a new project and reconnecting with her was just the motivation I needed!
-
Laugh.
The kids and I started a new bedtime routine last month. Last week we added a new twist to that routine. The younger 4 kids have told me 5 sentence stories of Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee. (We had to limit to 5 sentences for all 4 kids to do this and still make it to bed on time! Plus it helps them decide the best details of the story!)
These stories are insanely ridiculous and creative! I’ve found myself laughing simply because the kids are laughing so hard over their story. (Tweedle Dum got sprayed by a skunk tonight!) Laughter truly is the best medicine.
-
Be grateful!
Gratitude is one of the most important things I feel I can teach my kids. There is always something to be grateful for. (We do 2 things they are grateful for each night and 3 good things that happened that day during our bedtime routine as well.) By focusing on everything that’s good and that I am grateful for, it’s so easy to see all the blessings God has bestowed on me.
-
Practice self-care!
I’m always amazed how great I feel after a long, hot shower, the happiness a cheap bouquet of flowers brings me, how refreshed I feel after reading a motivating book, or how refreshed I feel after a brisk walk. Your self-care may not be the same as mine, do things you love to do! You won’t regret it and you will get over your bad attitude!
How do you get over a bad attitude?

- This link up is beneficial for every woman! Whether you are a blogger or a reader, this is one you won’t want to miss! I’m very excited to offer this link up as a place to not only build new relationships between bloggers but also by providing an awesome resource of information for my readers!

- You also give me permission to email you a quick reminder that the party is live. You may opt out anytime. I don’t spam my readers with emails.
- Answer the community building question below so we all get to know each other! That’s the purpose of being here! 🙂

Community Building Question: If I gave you $20 and told you to do whatever you wanted as long as it would help someone, what would you do with that $20?
I would buy as much food as I could (on sale of course) and donate it to our church for the community pantry. Either that or I’d buy diapers for a single mom. 🙂
Have you enjoyed what you read here today? Do you have friends or other women you know that could benefit from this resource? If so, please do me a favor! I have included the links below to share with other intentional women! They’ll be glad you did!

Wow, tough question. I think it would go to one of our missionaries — as a personal gift to “do whatever needed doing.”
You do such a great job coming up with these weekly questions. I look forward to them!
Keri says
That is a hard question… I think I would buy food to make dinners for a few families who are struggling.
Jenny says
That’s a super idea, Keri! (I like receiving meals even when I’m not struggling…maybe because I’ve been on the “I don’t want to cook” train! HA HA). Have a fantastic week!
Ana(@ANAWINSblog) says
Thanks for the feature!
Tog et over a bad attitude, I read my Bible and then try to get outside with my kids. Even if it’s just for a few minutes!
Have a great Wednesday!
Jenny says
Those are both great ways to get rid of a bad attitude! 🙂
Deb Wolf says
Jenny, I loved your four tips. Especially, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum stories. What a great idea. Laughter is the best medicine for getting out of a funk. Thanks for hosting us! Have a blessing-filled week!
Jenny says
Thanks, Deb! Love your post this week!
Elizabeth @ Guilty Chocoholic Mama says
Jenny, you “zinged” me right off the bat because I am the QUEEN of the bad attitude. This is not something I’m proud of. As a melancholy, homebody introvert, the idea of connecting with other people makes my attitude even worse. 😉 But I love the laughter and gratitude pieces…those do work for me, and I need to employ them more often. As for the $20, I’d definitely steal your idea about buy food for our local church food pantry. I know the nourishment it provides that goes far beyond actual food. Thank you for hosting again today…bless you!
Jenny says
Hi Elizabeth! I’m a homebody, too so I completely understand! 🙂 Cheers for laughter this week!
Emily says
I enjoyed your tips on getting over a bad attitude. For me, I would go on a run or walk. Or any exercise for that matter!
I think your idea of giving the $20 towards diapers for a single mom is great. A women’s shelter or pro-life organization would be a great place to give $20…so maybe I would pick that. 🙂
Jenny says
Thanks for linking up, Emily! Exercise is always a good way to fix an attitude! 🙂 Have a blessed week!
Lisa notes says
Nice tips! I heard recently that we laugh 30 times more when we are with other people than when we are alone, so your #1 and #2 tips work well together. 🙂
Jenny says
Thanks for linking up, Lisa! 🙂 Have a super week!
Brooke @thevinepress.org says
Oh, bad attitudes?! I hear my own advice as I speak to my children- you can make a choice to follow your attitude or not. I find I can so often let my will give into however my emotions are feeling and justify it. If I have time, I try to find out what’s really going on- am I sad or angry about something? If I don’t have time, I try to (this is ideal and doesn’t always happen!) remind myself that I have the spirit of self-control and make choices even in this moment!
And the $20…hmmm…maybe invest it into something that would multiply?
Thanks for the link up!
Jenny says
Love your idea on investing, Brooke! 🙂 Have a great week and thanks for linking up!
Susan Shipe says
Incessant rain can be a downer for sure. I love your attitude adjustment suggestions! And, oh how I love to laugh.
$20? I would send to my friend Andrew, a writer and blogger, who is dying and feeds a bunch of rescue dogs. $20 would buy a big bag of doggie food!
xo Thanks for the linkup each week.
Jenny says
That’s a super sweet idea, Susan! Prayers for your friend! Have a super week! 🙂
Kelsey says
It’s amazing how much we can let a bad attitude take over! I too find that these things can help so much. Thanks for hosting!
Jenny says
Thanks for linking, Kelsey! 🙂 Have a great week!

Love the tips – Self Care is so important. I learned that the hard way a few years ago when my health started catching up to me from lack of care.
As for what to do with 20.00? That’s a hard question simply because I can think of so many ways that it might bless someone. I think I would carry it and ask God to point out someone specifically that needed the blessing – Maybe a frazzled mom’s lunch, or maybe using it to tip a waiter or waitress he puts on my heart.
Thanks for hosting another great link-up!
Jenny says
Hi Victoria! I love your ideas, especially the frazzled mom. What a wonderful way to bless her!
Angela @ Setting My Intention says
When I have a bad attitude, I take some time to myself and regroup. I might go for a run or a walk, or I might just go to our room to take a few deep breaths!
I think I would take the $20 and get 20 $1 to hand out to those begging on the streets without judgement or question, but in order to share a tiny word of kindness and grace. I never carry cash so it’s rare I’m able to do this, but I do want to try when our budget has more flexibility. $1 bills or substantial wrapped snacks.
Have a great week!
Jenny says
Love the substantial snack idea! 🙂
June says
Excellent tips, Jenny! Gratitude is the one that always works for me! Have a blessed week and enJOY the sunshine!
Jenny says
Thanks, June! We still haven’t received any sunshine but hopefully tomorrow! 🙂 Thanks for linking up! 🙂
Tona says
I would take the $20.00 and save for my starbucks hot chocolate fix fund. Reading the bible, journaling to the Lord, and drinking hot chocolate fixes a bad attitude.
