One of my greatest thrills of being a home manager is saving my family money. In fact, sometimes I think I’m obsessive about saving money! When our first child was born, I was a coupon queen. Each year, I would have a garage sale and make a few hundred dollars just on selling the items I got free with coupons. However, couponing takes time. As my family has increased in size, I have less time than I used to, so I’ve found some other ways of saving money beyond cutting the Sunday coupons which I will continue to be sharing with you throughout the next few weeks.
Yesterday, I told you earning cash back by using Ibotta. Today, I’m sharing with you another free app for your smart phone. This app is called Shopkick.
Shopkick is different than Ibotta. Shopkick is unique in that it helps you find products available and rewards at stores such as Target, Macy’s, Crate & Barrel, Old Navy JC Penney, Best Buy, American Eagle, and Sports Authority.
When you walk into these stores and open your Shopkick app, you will receive “kicks” (which are reward points). These points add up and you can redeem the points for gift cards to shop at some of your favorite stores, therefore saving you money! You also can get more kicks when you scan products inside the store with your smart phone or buy certain items. Shopkick also has mobile coupons which you can use at these retailers to save even more.
When you open the Shopkick app you will see your “feed”. Your feed will show you stores nearby, editor’s books which are filled with products from your favorite retailers, and mobile coupons. Even if you do nothing more than open your app when you walk into the store, you will increase your kicks. It may take a bit longer to build them up, but to earn gift cards, I can definitely open an app in the entrance of a store I’m going into anyway!
Have you tried Shopkick yet? It took me a little bit to remember to open the app when walking into Target, but now that I’ve had it awhile, it’s second nature and sometimes the mobile coupons are really nice for saving a little extra. I was looking this morning and Macy’s had one for $10 of a $25 purchase!

This is a great idea. We disabled the smart part of my phone to save money. It only makes phone calls ….no apps 🙂 but great idea none-the-less.
