I’m not sure how it happened so fast, but it’s Monday again! Last week went by way to fast and everything that happened after Wednesday was a blur! I’m hoping to slow down a little this week and really be able to delight in and soak up all that’s going on around us!
What do you have happening this week?
Here are my 5 Things I Love from last week:

1. Jason’s been doing a lot of dirt work!
There’s been a lot of work going on at the new house! Part of that work has been done by my husband! One advantage of having farm equipment is that he has been able to do most of the dirt work by himself. We built on a hill and in order to make it so we have a back yard we needed to bring in a lot of dirt.
2. Canning fruit for a tasty winter treat!
I finally got some canning done this weekend. My kids love canned peaches and pears and this year I wasn’t sure I was going to get it done. I’m going to be trying to do some spaghetti sauce in the very near future but I need to be home to do it! Small problems, I know!
3. Magnetic blocks!
My kids seriously play with these things for hours upon hours. We’ve always been a huge fan of Magna-Tiles but recently got our first set of Tegu Wooden Blocks. David got a set to make a race car for his birthday that is really cool. They’ve made several different shaped race cars and love to see if they can roll it down the stairs without it breaking (I have wild boys). They love it so much that David already has asked for this robot set for Christmas.
4. Unexpected letters and emails from friends.
I received an unexpected email from a friend this week that made my heart happy. It was just a catch up email, but it made me thankful for good friends. I appreciate my friends so much who really “get me” and know that just because they haven’t heard from me in months doesn’t mean I haven’t been thinking about them, or that I’m angry…they just understand my life. They are also the friends that can pick up a conversation 3 months later right where it left off.
5. Nora’s letters
Nora has been very much into writing letters lately. I found this note tonight on the kitchen table about how her younger sister is bossy. I posted this on my personal Facebook page last night but it made me laugh so hard I thought you might enjoy it as well! I love how my kids can fight one minute and be best buddies the next! By the time I saw this letter, she and Ari were back upstairs playing Calico Critters and laughing, not in the “liv room”.
Life is never dull at my house! What did you love last week?
This Week’s Goals:
Spiritual Goals:
- Make time for God each day.
- Send a letter to our Compassion International child.
Marriage Goals:
- Pick out countertop without arguing. (We have really different taste on this! It’s one of the very few things that we have disagreed about on the home building adventure)
- Have a breakfast date. (We’ve been doing this the last few weeks, it’s a great way to save some money on not having a babysitter as the kids are all at school and it’s been really nice to have some talk time without kids!)
Family Goals:
- Continue Vision Therapy for Nora.
- Work on back to school schedule.
- KonMari all of our coats. I’ve been saving this one because we have a LOT of coats.
- Stick to bedtimes!
- Stay on top of allergies. My poor kids and husband are miserable!
- Spend some extra fun time this weekend with the family celebrating Labor Day
Homemaking Goals:
- Deep clean our back room where all the junk gets stashed.
- Fill out the calendar with school events (didn’t get this completed last week)
- Pick out countertop for kitchen.
Self-Care:
- Watch my water intake.
- Exercise 5 times and write it down in my weight loss journal.
- Pick healthy choices for snacks
Personal Goals:
- Snuggle with the family
- Cut myself some slack. Almost everyone in my house feels yucky and after dealing with their needs, I’m tired.
Womenwithintention.com Goals:
- Pin links from Women With Intention Wednesday.
- Write 3 posts.

Those blocks look really cool! Need to get some for C to play with in the future. 🙂

All the kids love them. My 12 year old will still sit down and play magna tiles with the younger ones. They’re neat!

I love how you list out specific goals like that. Hmmm. I might need to try that–life is so busy that it’s easy to lose track of where I’m supposed to be with my goals. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
