What can you do when you have a friend, sister, or other family who have recently had a baby and are too far away to visit or can’t visit for other reasons (such as my sister-in-law with a premature baby)? Have no fear! Here are a few gifts for a new mom that you can send her to bless her, even from a distance!
1.Send Gift Cards
Most new moms are under some degree of financial stress after the birth of a baby and a gift card to Wal-Mart or Target can help her not only with diapers and baby supplies, but it can also go toward groceries, prescriptions, and household goods. You could also choose a gift card to her favorite restaurant! Choose carefully to buy a gift card that fits her needs, don’t overlook online shopping, in the event she is home bound.
2. Send Stamps
Many new moms send thank-you notes, birth announcements, and of course, still have bills to pay. If you send the Forever stamps, even if she doesn’t use the stamps for some time, the postage rate won’t change! (Make sure you put a note in the card telling her NOT to send you a thank you note to relieve her of a little extra stress!)
3. Send Coupons
We all know that new moms don’t have a lot of extra time, so sending her a gift of some coupons to save a little money on her favorite products is a nice gesture. If you know her well, you can cut out her favorite laundry detergent, hair care, and other coupons that you know she could use. Even if you do not, any baby coupons or extras you don’t use could be useful.
4. Send Diapers

Find out what brand of diapers the baby will be using and buy some online and have them shipped. Even cloth diapers are available to be purchased online and I’m sure any new mom will appreciate the gift of saving money buying more diapers!
5. Send A Nice Hand Written Card
It is very refreshing to feel understood! Sometimes, the best gift for a new mom is letting her know that you have been there, or that thinking of her and care about her and the baby. Whether you have been there or not, a connection is always appreciated.
6. Pray For The Family
I am very lucky to have a few strong prayer warriors in my life. When circumstances are hard, it is always nice to know that I can ask them to pray for me. Send the new mom a quick email letting her know you are thinking about her and praying for her. She may have specifics for you to add to your prayers!
