It’s fun to go out for Valentine’s Day but if you have small kids, no babysitter, or are living on a budget it can be hard. Or impossible.
Don’t be sad! I have 5 of the best at-home romantic date activities for you and your love to enjoy at home for Valentine’s Day or any date night!
I’m confident that one of these fun at-home date ideas will not only knock your (and your hubby’s) socks off (no one wants a lame date night) but you will enjoy the time you spend together!
1. Theme: An Italian Getaway
If your man is anything like mine, he will enjoy creating something tasty to eat and spending time together for this fun and delicious at-home date. This is a fun one because you can go fancy, fun, or both.
You can get really creative with this date but no matter what, wine is a must! Next, you’ll need to decide what you will eat. We love homemade Italian food! There’s such a great variety that you can make at home! Alfredo, spaghetti, ravioli, lasagna, soup, or homemade pizza are just a few ideas. How about gelato for dessert? (If you go with homemade pizza, you might enjoy my fruit pizza as dessert!)
Once you have the food planned, how about some Italian music to enjoy playing softly in the background to give you a more Italian feel? While you are planning don’t forget the fancy white table cloth, candles for a candlelit dinner, silverware and cloth napkins!
When you’re finished eating you can snuggle up and enjoy an Italian movie together! (And don’t forget the mints on your pillows before bed!)
2. Theme: Night of Bubbles.
One of the characteristics of a great marriage is to be able to have fun together. Bubbles are a great way to add some fun into your romance!
Gather up anything involving bubbles! Be creative. The obvious items to include are champagne, your favorite soda (if you really want to get creative make your own using a SodaStream), bubble bath, or bubbles to blow outside.
Be as creative as you can if you go for the bubble bath add in some great smelling candles, romantic music, and either make your own or buy some special bath products. Add in a massage and complete the evening with his and her soft robes and relax together.
3. Indulge in a tasting night of chocolates!
I l.o.v.e. chocolate. Jason puts up with my obsession like any great husband does and he enjoys snacking on it as well. To prepare for your chocolate tasting, you will need a bunch of different chocolates. The Dating Divas (one of my favorite websites for adding some extra romance to your marriage) provides this great mat tasting printable to get you started! Have some fun but make sure you don’t eat too much…you don’t want to have a stomach ache after! Some great chocolates to try are Lindt, Ferrero, Godiva, Ghirardelli, Leonidas, Bruyerre, Valrhona, and Guylian .
4. Theme: A Bucket List For 2.
This can be a fun date to sit down with a bottle of wine in your comfy robes and dream together. All you need is some paper, a few pens or markers and your imagination. For those of you who may not know what a bucket list is, it is a list where you list everything you want to do in your life together before you “kick the bucket”. It could be volunteering, charity, travel, or whatever you desire. After you plan your list, figure out which dream you want to go after first!
5. Theme: An At Home Spa
This is one of my favorites! You will need oils, a towel to wipe it off later, an old sheet or towels and some relaxing music. Grab the sheets and towels and spread them out on the floor or your bed (the bed would be more comfortable) and tell your love that it’s time for a massage! If you really want to add a little pizzazz to your home spa you could add some Shari’s Berries!
I hope these ideas get your creative juices flowing! What ideas would you add to the list?

Jenny, I love these ideas! Especially the chocolate tasting and the Italian getaway. I have probably done most of these half way but you add in a lot of details that I would have overlooked. We are staying in for Valentines Day this year, so I will have my husband pick one of these to try 🙂 Thanks!

These are great ideas, Jenny! I have to admit the chocolate tasting sounds wonderful to me–any excuse to eat chocolate and I’m there. 🙂
