Every Monday at my house is Meal Plan Monday and I wanted to do an organizing and decluttering project relating to meal planning. Therefore, our challenge today was cleaning, organizing and decluttering the refrigerator!
Before I began, I unloaded the dishwasher, filled the sink with hot, soapy water and made sure my trash can was next to the refrigerator As the sink filled with water, I set the timer and I grabbed my cleaning supplies and started unloading the refrigerator.
I threw out the food that was bad (there actually wasn’t all that much, which I was happy about. I quickly cleaned all the shelves and wiped down the entire refrigerator. Then it was time to load it back up. (Yes, Velveeta and butter were both on sale in the last couple of weeks at stock up prices so I went a little crazy…)
As I cleaned the refrigerator, I found a package of brats that I needed to use up so I added it to my menu plan. I also found some yogurt that had gotten stuck in the back that has an expiration date coming up so I made sure to add that to the snack list. I double checked to be sure all of the leftovers were labeled so I know when to throw them out if we don’t use them. I also added them to the meal plan to be sure they get used up. Finally, I noticed as far as staples go I need bread and eggs so I added them as well. I like making my grocery list this way because I don’t have to second guess at the store about what I have and what I don’t.
Isn’t it great to have a clean refrigerator? I hope you were able to get yours cleaned out today!
