I’m sorry I’m behind on getting this updated! I’ve been waiting for my pictures to upload and for some reason that took way longer than normal!
Today’s challenge was decluttering and cleaning your kitchen! I’m so excited to find out how you did on this challenge.
I began with cranking up some music and lit 2 of my favorite candles. Then I began unloading the dishwasher. With an empty dishwasher it was time to attack the counters. I had made a mess of things yesterday throwing together my 4-Layer Pudding Dessert to take to a family Christmas. Honestly, about every food item I touched yesterday spilled, landed on the floor, or ended up somewhere it wasn’t supposed to be. There were pudding boxes, a Cool Whip container and other messes from that to clean up. I quickly cleaned up that mess and loaded up the dishwasher with the remaining dirty dishes from the dessert.
After the counters, I moved to the fridge. It was still fairly clean from the last clean up, but I had a half of an empty dishwasher. I figured it was as good of a time to do it as any to clean that as quickly as possible and try to stay in preventative mode instead of cleaning up mega disasters later. I’m happy to have a clean refrigerator!
I decided then to move on to the lazy Susan. This poor cupboard is always getting dirty because the kids kick it open and shut with their feet when we eat at the breakfast bar and any time they spill anything it seems to end up in that cupboard. I also organized the cans so I could quickly look in and see what was and wasn’t there. I found some canned food to donate to the food pantry so that made me happy as well!
Finally, I cleaned the cabinets up above the stove. These aren’t usually real messy but get cluttered as we shove things back into the cupboard when we are finished with them. I found that I won’t need to buy Pam cooking spray for years (I had 8 cans of it! Too many trips to Sam’s club?) and that we are almost out of Kool-Aid.
All in all, the kitchen is almost back to normal. There are still 4 cupboards I need to do but I am done for today. The one set of cupboards is where we keep our office stuff so I didn’t really consider it to be kitchen decluttering and I need to do the cupboards above the refrigerator which are basically a waste of space because they are very hard to get into.
How did you do on your kitchen today? I am so thankful for one area in the house to be back to normal! I hope you have a nice clean kitchen, too!
