Welcome back! Today’s challenge was decluttering a closet in your home. When I posted this challenge today, I originally had planned on doing my 6-year-old daughter’s closet. Well, life happened and my older daughter informed me that hers should be first since she is the oldest (and the 6-year-old really didn’t want to have to clean her room) so we started with hers! It worked out better to do it that way because it was far less time-consuming than the other closet would have been. Jason and I went and ran some errands, finished shopping for my nephew, and did our grocery shopping today so time was more limited than I thought it would be.
With the room arranging going on in our house, this closet was in bad shape before decluttering and I’m kicking myself for not taking a picture of the “before.” When we finished there were 7 shirts to donate and 2 pairs of shoes. I’m sure we will have more once we clean out her dresser where she keeps most of her clothes. My girls have enough of a gap between them that unless the clothing is perfect, we don’t keep it for the next. I can’t store clothing for 4 years in between wearing it. Besides that, fashion changes and the two girls are built very differently.
As you can see, she has a shoe organizer on the back of her door. We use this to store all of her art supplies, cards, and other small items that she doesn’t want her siblings getting into.
After we did the closet door, we organized and decluttered her hanging clothes, and finally the shelves in her closet.
How did you do decluttering the closet of your choice today?
