I’m excited to give you my update today on our 31 Days Of Decluttering In December challenge! We had a successful day of decluttering! Today’s challenge was decluttering the toys before Christmas or if you don’t have toys to declutter at your house, to wrap 10 more presents!
This is the first time I haven’t done both challenges but I did make significant progress on the toys. While the kids were at school this is what I found to declutter with no help! This completely filled a kitchen trash bag so that pleased me greatly! (You will be able to see we donated a lot of baby dolls! Last year the two big girls got knock off American Girl dolls (Journey Girls from Toys R Us) and they haven’t really played with the others since.)
I wasn’t done! After the kids got home, I had each of them find at least 5 toys to give away. I was equally pleased with their contributions. One of them found 3 brand new puzzles that we’ve had for a year and never opened because they like to do the Melissa and Doug puzzles. I like to donate our used toys but I felt even better donating some new ones! Here is what the kids came up with to give away;
I am really proud of my kids. They brought me a lot of toys they actually do still play with but know they are getting more next week and were happy to help out others. And the youngest only picked 3 toys out after I snapped this photo! (I snatched them back when she wasn’t looking and put them in the bag as well.)
How did you do on today’s challenge? As happy as I am, I know I could probably find a bunch more things to give away. I am going to do this challenge again the week they go back to school and see what else I can find that they no longer need or want. I’m looking forward to your stories of what you found today to give to others.
Here are the previous challenges in this series:
We had a successful day as well. I think we have 3 bags for the thrift store and 3 or 4 to store away 🙂
