Good Morning! It’s Day 10! Whoo hoo! There’s something about walking down the stairs to a clean living room and then opening an organized refrigerator that makes me happy first thing in the morning. I hope you have been feeling blessed by your progress as well!
Today we will be digging in and decluttering once again! Today’s challenge is: decluttering and organizing your linen closet.
If your closet looks anything like mine, you will find a wide variety of items inside! Today I challenge you to really dig in and decide what needs to be kept, what doesn’t, and what is the best way to bless others with what you no longer need. How many extra sheet sets, towels, and blankets do you need? Can these extra items be donated to the homeless shelter or even to an animal rescue shelter?
One thing to ask yourself as you are doing this task would be, an I keep these items in the room where the sheets will be used to free up some space and store something else in here?
My suggestions for cleaning out the closet are: first to take all the items out. With an empty closet imagine how you want it to look. Get your dusting supplies, vacuum, and cleaning supplies and do a quick tidy up of the closet. If you have shelf-liner to put down and make it look prettier, go for it! I know for myself that if something looks pretty, I try to keep it cleaner!
Now you can start putting the items back in where you want them to be. Fold all the linens and start putting them back away. My kids can’t reach the towels on the top shelf so if I want them to be self-sufficient that probably isn’t the best place for me to store them. However, for items I don’t want them into, that’s a great place to put them! I learned from an old friend that by folding towels in thirds makes them easier to stack so that’s my preferred method of folding towels!
I can’t wait for your updates on your linen closet looks tonight! I would love to make enough room in mine to be able to store all of our summer swimming things inside. We’ll see how it goes today!
If you want to link up, snap a picture and meet back at 6 CST. For those of you who don’t blog, leave a comment and let me know what you were able to declutter, move out of the linen closet, and maybe find room to store something else!

31 Days Of Decluttering In December: The Introduction
Wish I had time to do this today. We don’t have a true linen closet but the storage cabinet in our bathroom where we keep our towels and medicine needs some serious attention!
I like your ideas for donating old towels and blankets. Your local vet clinic would be another place to donate them.
Good luck!
